Assistant Professor in Speech, Language, and Hearing SciencesThe Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at UTEP invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. While we welcome applicants with expertise in a wide range of areas, we are particularly interested in individuals with a background in bilingual language development, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), pediatric feeding, school-based services, and/or neurogenic disorders. Research foci that span areas and capitalize on the unique placement of UTEP on the U.S.-Mexico border will be given special consideration. The anticipated appointment start date is Fall of 2026.The successful candidate will teach core graduate and undergraduate courses in speech-language pathology, offer special topic electives and support thesis/dissertation mentorship. The Assistant Professor will also contribute by engaging students in community-based research, small-scale clinical studies, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to establish an independent research program that complements and extends the department's existing strengths.Job Requirements:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS• Earned doctorate (PhD) in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field (ABD considered, with degree completion by start date).• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).• Eligibility for Texas state licensure in speech-language pathology.• Evidence of scholarly productivity and potential for external funding.• Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching, mentorship, and service.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: bilingual language development, AAC, pediatric feeding, school-based services, or neurogenic disorders.• Three years of clinical experience in the candidate's area of expertise• Ability to teach in multiple content areas related to pediatric speech and language development and disorders• Evidence of effective teaching in higher education• Evidence of excellence in mentoring student researchersAdditional Information:The initial salary is competitive, based on qualifications and experience, and comes with excellent fringe benefits.
