Associate/Full Professor in Physical Therapy and Movement SciencesThe University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenured Associate, or Full Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy & Movement Science to develop and enhance the Rehabilitation Engineering path. This is a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The department welcomes applications from candidates in all areas of rehabilitation engineering and associated fields. The successful candidate will be responsible to bridge different disciplines to enhance the research productivity of the department.We are interested in a dynamic person who can connect across existing strengths and expertise at UTEP. Priority will be given to the originality and promise of the candidate's vision for a Rehabilitation Engineering field within the larger umbrella of UTEP's vision and mission of providing access to excellent higher education. The successful candidate will be strongly supported to build a premier Rehabilitation Engineering research program with world-class faculty and facilities, and collaborations across UTEP. Within the department, the candidate will be required to maintain a strong synergy with other departments such as the Department of Metallurgical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering, within the College of Engineering, and the Department of Occupational Therapy, within the College of Health Sciences.Job responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity (e.g., grant writing, manuscript publications, and conference presentations), and service to the program, college, university, community, and profession. The anticipated appointment date is Fall 2026. The ideal candidate will excel at having a highly productive research agenda, thrive in a bi-national setting, embrace the opportunities to work with underserved groups, and flourish in an independent work environment.This position represents an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to build on an established and nationally recognized program and shape the direction of new initiatives. Multiple scholarly/research opportunities are available in the community and clinical settings on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Teaching excellence and current scholarship/research will determine appointment at the Associate or full Professor level.Job Requirements:Candidates are required to have: (1) an academic doctorate (preferably PhD) in any field associated with rehabilitation engineering; (2) a demonstrated record of scholarly/research activity and potential for securing external funding; (3) demonstrated experience with or potential for graduate teaching excellence; (4) experience in or potential for service to the program, college, university, community, and profession; and (5) ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Preferred qualifications include: (1) currently licensed as a physical therapist in the United States; (2) demonstrated record of securing external funding; (3) post-doctoral research training; (4) demonstrated record of substantively involving undergraduate and/or graduate students in scholarship/research.Additional Information:SALARY/BENEFITS: The initial salary is negotiable and based on qualifications and experience.
