Supervision Exercised: Supervision may be exercised over student employees.
 
 
Job Summary:
Teach assigned classes and laboratory sections and perform activities related to classroom instruction.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
 
1. Teach Automotive courses including lecture and lab components as appropriate.
2. Maintain student records per National Automotive Training Education Foundation (NATEF).
3. Maintain office hours convenient for students.
4. Participate in college and department training including continuous improvement through mentoring and evaluation activities.
5. Attend required meetings (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).
6. Assist in course and student outcome assessments, implementation of curriculum and activities related to Welding. Provide continuous improvement for program curriculum through completion of program review processes.
7. Assist in developing and maintaining educational pathways for high school, as well as adult and continuing education students.
8. Participate in division, college, advisory committees, and community activities.
9. Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.
10. See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.
11. Maintain supply and equipment inventory where appropriate.
12. Make minor repairs on machines or other lab equipment when practical and appropriate.
13. Work closely with Automotive professional associations; Interface with the accrediting Automotive accrediting body, via required meetings, training, documentation.
14. Perform related duties as assigned.
15. Maintain safety procedures at all times.
16. Collaborate with Dean, Marketing and Communications, and Student Services staff on student recruitment, retention, and completion.
17. Assist in work-based placement (e.g., internships, apprenticeships, post-graduation opportunities).
18. Collaborate with Dean and regional employers to develop and incorporate feedback from an
19. Advisory Committee to ensure that the programs address equity and access, as well as relevancy and innovation.
20. Assist Dean with recruitment, screening, recommending, training, and evaluating adjunct faculty and other programmatic needs for CTE courses.
 
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
· A Bachelor's degree in Automotive Service Technology, and / or a combination of education, training, and tested experience in one or more of the following Certifications from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), military or equivalent; and 1-3 years related experience required.
· Proficiency in all aspects of the automobile, including electrical/electronics, engine repair, engine performance, heating/AC, suspension, brakes, and transmissions is preferred.
· Prior teaching experience preferred.
· Experience in office and computer, word-processing technology required.
· Experience in dealing with third party regulatory agencies is preferred.
· Demonstrated experience in supervising/training others is preferred.
· Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills and ability to use independent judgement and function autonomously is required.
· Effective interaction with people from diverse backgrounds is required.
· Commitment to the mission of the community college and interest in involvement in department, division, and College initiatives.
 
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office, classroom, and instructional lab setting.
