Fidelity TalentSource is your destination for discovering your next temporary role at Fidelity Investments. We are currently sourcing for a Mainframe Programmer/Analyst to work in Fidelity’s Brokerage Technology Group in Merrimack, NH, Durham NC, Jersey City NJ or Westlake TX.

The Role

The Brokerage Settlements area in R4 is part of the Core Brokerage Platform Domain. Our teams in R4 area are responsible for supporting the production environment for critically important products and applications. The R4 area is responsible for supporting mainframe, distributed and Cloud technologies for processing applications. The team supports all lines of business across Retail and Institutional businesses. The Senior software developer for the R4 team will be responsible for driving and supporting implementation of applications and framework using mainframe technologies.
This technology group provides outstanding development and maintenance support to the overall Fidelity Institutional organization, in vital core subsystems that provide settlements information as well as trusted customer information, distributed throughout the organization.

 The Value You Deliver

  • Provide thought & technical leadership for the key initiatives in FI/FBT R4.
  • Designing and maintaining architecture solutions on a platform dedicated to high scale processing of large amounts of data.
  • Setting, communicating, and reinforcing technical standards
  • Providing leadership for junior and senior engineers alike, by understanding how to demonstrate and improve their current skills
  • Assessing and researching current implementations of the platform and determining the course of action required to elevate the platform to meet customer needs.
  • Working with Operations to plan major infrastructure upgrades, to solve issues and to tune the environment for efficient performance and uptime
  • Collaborating with peers and management on process improvement ideas, policy and procedure enhancements, and opportunities to improve our customer's service experience.
  • Participating in code review and unit testing and providing support on issues in non-prod or production

The Skills that are Key to this role

  • Should possess good knowledge on CICS, COBOL, DB2, VSAM and JCL.
  • Good CICS System knowledge would be valuable.
  • Good understanding of CICS Dynamic Transaction Routing process.
  • Should be familiar with DB2 tools, File-Aid, scheduler and debugger tools.
  • Understanding of Distributed Applications/ System
  • Exposure to Brokerage/Finance domain will be an added advantage
  • Prior experience of working in highly transactional, fault tolerant and data driven systems.
  • Identify areas of risk or potential problems and take action to mitigate them and work with less experienced staff to mitigate more complex issues.
  • Apply different communication and leadership styles for different teams and geographies.
  • Lead through influence and know what data is needed to drive effective decisions
  • Assess and plan project, and team members needs, and manage deadlines, risks.
  • Anticipate roadblocks, diagnose problems and generate effective solutions
  • Build communication and rapport with partners and team members.
  • Adapt in a changing environment and be effective in many different business settings.
  • Take initiative, define vision for improvement of products, and implement at high level of quality

Dynamic Working

At Fidelity TalentSource, our goal is for most people to work flexibly in a way that balances both personal and business needs with time onsite and offsite through what we call “Dynamic Working.” Most associates will have a hybrid schedule with a requirement to work onsite at a Fidelity location for at least one week, 5 consecutive days, every four weeks.
